How Long Is The Great Wall Of ChinaThere are many different estimates of the length of The Great Wall of China. It is believed that it is approximately 9000 miles (15,000 kilometers) long, taking into account its winding, twisting path through northern China. Measured along a straight path from the western end of the wall to the eastern end, it measures 4000 miles (6400 kilometers). In certain areas the wall stands almost 26 feet tall and measures 12 to 40 feet wide. All along its length the wall is dotted with towers, watchtowers, and battle forts. The Great Wall of China extends through many kinds of terrain as it twists and turns through Northern and north-central China, including mountainous regions as well as deserts. It begins at Shanhai Pass on the eastern end, which is next to the Bohai Gulf, and ends at the Jiayu Pass. Beyond Jiayu Pass, along the Silk Road, there are many watchtowers still standing. These watchtowers used to use smoke signals to let the others know of an impending invasion. Snippet of article Click here to read more
